Yahoo Search & your new-tab page

True Browser comes with Yahoo as its default search provider. Searches from the address bar and the search box on True’s new-tab page are routed through our search partner at truebrowser-org.s1search.co to Yahoo. Search results may include advertising. True may earn revenue from this search arrangement.

You can change your address-bar search provider in browser Settings > Search engine. The search box on True’s new-tab page uses Yahoo independently of that choice. Normal new tabs use search.truebrowser.org; Incognito and Guest landing pages are local browser pages. Your selected session-restore and startup options can affect what opens at launch.

Sponsored new-tab ads

Sponsored tabs are enabled by default. When an installation is eligible and an offer is available, an interaction while browsing may open an advertiser’s offer in a new tab. These tabs are labelled “Sponsored by True.” Having the setting enabled does not guarantee that ads will appear.

This switch controls True’s sponsored-tab feature. It does not remove advertising from Yahoo search results or other websites, change your search provider, or stop independent search and browser-settings reporting.

Information used by the browser

Sponsored tabs use page URLs, page titles, descriptions, and other page metadata to select offers. This information can include the full page URL and can also be processed in Incognito and Guest modes. Private browsing is not an opt-out from sponsored-tab processing.

True also reports installation identifiers, search events, selected search engines, browser settings, and installation-option information. Regular and Guest search reports can include search terms. Dedicated Incognito search reports omit the query text, but your search provider still receives your search, and sponsored-tab context may include it in a page URL or title.

Installation & background behavior

The installer’s Advanced Options let you choose whether to:

• Import bookmarks and browsing history from another browser.
• Open True when Windows starts.
• Run True in the background.
• Automatically check for updates.

These options are enabled by default on a fresh installation. Previously saved choices can be preserved during an upgrade. Review the options before completing installation.

The optional importer brings bookmarks and browsing history into True; it does not import passwords, cookies, or extensions. Background mode can keep True running after its windows close and can reopen it when you return to your computer. You can review background behavior in browser Settings > System and startup behavior in Windows Settings > Apps > Startup.

True may offer to pin the browser to your Windows taskbar. Pinning requires your choice and depends on Windows support. Features and availability can vary by version and installation.

Browsing with a greener purpose

Revenue from both Yahoo-powered search and sponsored new-tab ads helps support our tree-planting mission. We do not promise that a particular search, ad view, download, or period of use results in a specific number of trees or a particular environmental outcome. Our website’s forest imagery illustrates the mission and is not evidence of a specific planting project.
